Claudia Benjamin Obituary
November 2, 1951 - February 8, 2024
Columbia, South Carolina - Mrs. Claudia Verdery Benjamin 72, entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 8, 2024 after a life well lived. Always a natural leader, she was the first-born of four to the late Marcellus Claudius Verdery and Jane Reese Verdery in North Augusta, SC. She graduated from Augusta College with a Bachelors Degree in Math and Physics and a Masters Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting. She went on to earn a Certified Public Accounting license and to work in a variety of interesting, challenging industries and at places such as PanAm, New York University, Siemens, and Aflac. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Thomas Alan Benjamin of Columbia, SC; her brother Mattison Reese Verdery (Susan) of Augusta, GA; sister Leslie Verdery Johnson (Roy) of North Augusta, SC; nieces Stephanie Verdery of New York, NY, Sarah Verdery of Augusta, GA, Pearre Verdery of Nashville, TN; nephew Chance Verdery of North Augusta, SC; and two grand-nephews. She was predeceased by brother Marcellus Verdery Jr. Services will be private. Claudia was passionate about the rescue and care of animals - she adopted many dogs, helped find new homes for several, and cared for all. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or any charitable animal organization of your choosing. Moseley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Claudia and I went to school together graduating from North Augusta Senior High in 1969. Her father sold my father all of the stationary as he practiced law in Augusta. Claudia was always fun! I will always love picture her smile and hear her laughter. May her memory be eternal.

We will all miss Claudia. Her contagious laugh will stay with me until I see my cousin again! So, many memories of times spent with Claudia and her family.
