Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, 2930 Colonial Drive, is in charge of the arrangements.
Deacon Black died March 22, 2008. Born in Lexington County, he was the son of Sylvania (Dreher) Black and the late Johnny Black Sr. A graduate of Lexington Rosenwald High School, he retired from CMC Steel Co. He was a member of Lexington Masonic Lodge #251 and a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Summers Black; seven children, Curley Jr. (Helen), Deno (Mary) and Mel Black, Wanda (Ricky) Milton, Wendy (Edward, Sr.) Davis, Carla Solone and Katrina B. Alverez; mother, Peggy S. Black; siblings, Rebecca Walker, Carolyn Zanders, Johnny, Phillip and Janet Black; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
