Columbia, South Carolina - Mr. Curtis Marion Harrison was born July 8, 1936, to the late Marion and Maggie Smith Harrison of Ridgeway, SC. He was educated in Fairfield County schools and later at Midlands Technical College. Mr. Harrison was an army veteran and was employed in various jobs before retiring from the City of Columbia Police Department as a Sergeant.
Mr. Harrison was a faithful Rehoboth Baptist Church member, where he led the Jubilee choir and served as the chairman of the deacon board for many years and later as a deacon emeritus.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Susie Mae Martin for 63 years, and to this union, 4 daughters were born.
Deacon Harrison was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Annie Mae Summers and Susie Mae Ellison; three brothers, Nathaniel Harrison, Earnest Harrison, and George Mark Harrison; four sisters, Ruth Belton, Willie Mae Canty, Inita Moon, and Barbara Ann Jenkins.
Deacon Harrison leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Susie Mae Harrison of the home; two daughters, Margie (David) Long and Marion (David) Whitaker; one son-in-law Stanley Ellison; three brothers: James (Natsumi) Harrison, Andrew (Patricia) Harrison, Charles (Vivian) Harrison; two sisters: Bessie (Paul) Wood and Dorothy (James) Price; four granddaughters: LaTezzar (Eric) Fair-Dash, LaDatril Long, LaQuinta Long, and Crystal Whitaker: six great-grandchildren: Ericka Dash, Makayla Long, Christopher Dash, Madison Long, Elijah Fair Dash, and Tristian Whitaker and numerous family and friends all of whom will miss him dearly.
Arrangements for Deacon Emeritus Curtis Marion Harrison are as follows:
The public viewing will be Wednesday, January 20, 2021, from 3-6 PM at Palmetto Funeral Service Chapel. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 11 AM at Rehoboth Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and CDC guidelines, the church sanctuary will be closed to the general public, but the service will be live-streamed at https://www.facebook.com/PFSMidlands.
