Farrell M. Morris PENNSAUKIN, N.J. - Funeral Services for Mr. Farrell M. Morris will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. (viewing 8:00 a.m.) at the St. Matthew's United Methodist, 1665 Derousse Avenue, Pennsauken, NJ, with burial in Chelten Hills Cemetery. Viewing will be held Friday, July 4, 2014, beginning 6:00 p.m. at Beckett-Brown and Hodges Funeral Home. Mr. Morris was born January 21, 1943, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the oldest son of the late Deacon Ferrel and Synolta Leaphart Morris. He departed this life on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Philadelphia, PA, at the age of 71. Originally from Columbia, SC, he was a graduate of C.A. Johnson High School. He married Ms. Margaret L. Lorick in 1962. After employment at the local State Hospital, he moved his family to Philadelphia, PA. Employed as a welder at Budd's a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, he became the first Black President of the local Sheet Metal Workers Union for over fifteen (15) years. He then became employed with SEPTA, the city's public transportation system, from which he retired after twenty (20) years. He renewed his spiritual life with First Baptist Church of Del-Air, Pennsauken, N.J., where he was ordained as Deacon in 1990, as served as chairman for the last four years. He was preceded in death by: his son, Benito A. Morris. Surviving are: his wife of 52 years, Margaret Lorick Morris; one daughter, Elizabeth (Julius) Davis; two grandchildren, Julius and Kiayna Davis; one great-grandchild, Keon Davis; father-in-law, Nathaniel Lorick; one sister-in-law, Connie Lorick; seven siblings, Mary C. Morris, Thelma E. Pugh, Trina L. Morris, Bernard (Frances) Morris, Calvin (Laurie) Morris, Ronnie Morris, and Edison Morris; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends.
