Gordon Prestwich Obituary
Born in Merian, ID, he was a son of the late Iliff Prestwich and Frieda Hayes Prestwich Glogowski.
Mr. Prestwich was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and retired in 1977 as a U.S. Air Force chief master sergeant with 30 years of service. He also retired from USC-Sumter in 1992 as Physical Plant Manager. He was a member of American Legion Post 15.
He was twice married, first to the late Barbara J. Prestwich.
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; one son, Gordon Prestwich and wife Teri of Cedar Hill, TX; one daughter, Janet Hayward and husband Ted of Blue Springs, MO; one brother, Richard Prestwich and wife Joyce of Caldwell, ID; one sister, Bonnie (Jeannie) Ayers and husband Mel of Yuba City, CA; one stepson, Thomas Warren Blackwell and wife Joyce of Darlington; one stepdaughter, Peggy B. Casey of Hartsville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Lewis officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be John Barnett, Roy Weathersbee, Ken McLeod, Tom Payne, Buddy Robinson, and Joe Smith.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 27 Broad Street, Sumter, SC 29150 or to a charity of one’s choice.
