Batesburg, South Carolina - Funeral services for Helen Louise McGee Winstead, 93, will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 5th, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Batesburg with burial to follow at Ridge Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 4th, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter at 561 Edisto Drive, Batesburg, SC 29006. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saluda Nursing Center Riley Unit, 581 Newberry Highway, Saluda SC 29138 or First Baptist Church of Batesburg Senior Citizen Fund, 436 West Church Street, Batesburg SC, 29006. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel is assisting the family.
Mrs. Winstead passed away Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022. Born in Monetta, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Price and Minnie Lee Orander McGee. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Batesburg where she was active in the Sunday school class, Wednesday Bible Study circle, and was a retired manager of First Financial Loans.
Surviving are her daughter, Sonya Cary (Ross); son, Dale Winstead (Gigi); brother, Edwin McGee (Maxine); grandchildren, Amber C. Fulmer (Austin), Dr. Will Cary (Tanya), Shannon Winstead, and Diedra Winstead; 4 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Winstead; brothers, Roderick McGee (Sara) and Charles McGee (Zelma); and sisters, Edith Corley (Jesse) and Betty Washington (Alan).
The family would like to thank Mrs. Brenda Wiggins for her care and devotion and to Dr. William Sawyer and the dedicated staff of Saluda Nursing Center, especially the nurses and staff of the Riley Unit, where she received love and exemplary care.

Mrs Helen and Mr Bernard Winstead are both dearly missed. I apologize for the late post but I´m just seeing this obit for the first time. The news blew me away. I, Audrey Gardner, am the only granddaughter of the late Mr LH and Mrs Virginia Fallaw of Monetta, SC. My grandparents moved to Monetta in 1994, when I was 11. The Winsteads and my grandparents were fast friends meeting to eat at Hardee´s, playing set back and camping together until my grandparents died in 2009 and 2011. I believe that they are in Heaven worshipping God. However, I like to comfort myself with the image of them eating at Hardee´s and playing set back together in Heaven. God bless, condolences, sympathy, empathy and prayers! May they rip and know that they were dearly loved and are missed! God bless the family and friends too!
