Hollis Gordon Obituary

GILBERT - Mr. Hollis R. Gordon, 77, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009.

He was born in Mullins, a son of the late Elsie R. Gordon. Mr. Gordon was a graduate of Mullins High School, had retired from PYA Monarch, and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Gilbert.

Surviving Mr. Gordon are his wife, Virginia R. Gordon of the home; a son, Hollis R. Gordon, Jr. and his wife, Patti, of Eutawville; 3 sisters, Bea Cohen and Joyce Zimmerman, both of Mullins, and Evelyn Gore of Conway; and a brother, Jimmy Gordon and his wife, Bonnie, of Spartanburg.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1 in Cedardale Cemetery, 1001 North Main Street, Mullins. The services will be directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.

The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Joyce Zimmerman, 1101 Maple St., Mullins.

Memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 1000 Spring Hill Road, Gilbert, SC 29054.

I worked with Doc's wife Virginia many years ago and even though I did not see him very often, I realized what a great person he was through her. My sympathy and prayers to both her and their son, Rogers.
