Irmo, South Carolina - Irmo, South Carolina – Our Bamma went to Heaven on June 4, 2021, at age 85, where she met Jesus at the pearly gates. Cornelia Jane Joye Moshell was lovingly known as Momma to her three children, Bamma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Poopie-doo to her loving husband, and Jane to her friends. She lived a beautiful fulfilled life and fiercely loved her family – her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Jane was born on March 13, 1936, in Rockingham, NC, to Marion and Lilian Smith Joye. She graduated from McColl-Fletcher Memorial High School in McColl, SC before earning her Associate's degree at Columbia College in 1956. On July 7, 1957, she married the love of her life, Larry Kimbrough Moshell.
Jane had a strong Christian faith. She was a member of the Union United Methodist Church in Irmo, SC for 37 years, where she and her husband were members of the Pauline Younginer Sunday School class. Jane was a great example of living by faith and helped set a strong example for her family and those around her. Her gift of mercy reached out to those in need.
Jane loved to travel and tell stories of her life's many adventures. She and her husband traveled the country by car, went on cruises, and liked to enjoy quiet time at the beach. She filled many scrapbooks with photos of their life together. She loved to share stories and pass on a piece of her love and wisdom with anyone who visited.
Jane is survived by her husband of 63 years, Larry Moshell, and three children, Larry Moshell Jr., Karen Homesley (Doug), and Joye Boswell (Thomas). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Frank Esposito, Charles Esposito, Miranda Guardiola (Edgar), Elliott Moshell, Jordan Moshell, and Stephanie Boswell, as well as her great-grandchildren, Landon Daughtry, Adaline Esposito, and Emersyn Guardiola.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Union United Methodist Church, 7582 Woodrow St, Irmo, SC 29063 on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 3:00 pm, with Reverend Stephen Taylor presiding. Visitation will be held in the sanctuary beginning at 2:00 pm. She will be interred at Bush River Memorial Gardens in Columbia.
