Jerri Amick Newton Obituary

Jerri Ann Amick Newton
August 1, 2023
Gaston , South Carolina - Jerri Ann Amick Newton, 87, passed away peacefully in her home on August 1, 2023.
Born on July 13, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Roland Boyd and Kinlea Biggs Amick. She was predeceased by the love of her life, and husband of 68 years, Arthur Lester Newton.
Jerri will continue to live through her children who survive her: Art (Karen), George (Robin) and Chris (Tammy), her 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Libby Jones Thomas and Becky Oliver. She was predeceased by her son Woody and her brother Johnny Amick.
Jerri's most challenging and rewarding work was raising 4 sons. Once they were grown, she worked beside Lester at Congaree Home Center, the company they founded over 30 years ago.
She was a loyal and faithful member of Beulah United Methodist Church since moving to Sandy Run in 1984. Jerri worked diligently on the church's annual Labor Day bake sale, baking and freezing homemade bread for months prior to the sale. Her delicious bread always sold out within 30 minutes. Making bread was her passion and she used it to bless God and others through many communion services at the church.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 5 from 10 AM to 11:30 AM at Beulah United Methodist Church. The graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM. Memorials may be made to Beulah United Methodist Church, 1577 Old State Road, Gaston SC 29053.
God has you in his keeping – we have you in our hearts forever.
