Raleigh, North Carolina - On March 17, 2022, John DeLeon Moïse, beloved husband, father, brother, nephew, and cousin passed away at the age of 65, after an extended battle with cancer. He was born on December 7, 1956, in Sumter, SC and attended Darlington High School in Rome, GA, where he graduated with honors. While there, he was active in wrestling and tennis. John had a lifelong passion for physical fitness and sports. He loved golf, tennis, sailing, and camping. He also ran in half-marathons and half-triathlons.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dr. Davis D. Moïse and Emily Cribb Moïse, and his older sister, Sally Moïse. Carl Allen "Mikey"

March 24, 2022

It was with great sadness that I read of John's passing. Unfortunately, we lost track of each other years back, but John was my springboard diving partner for two years at the College of Charleston. I remember the day that the announcer could not get his name correct - all day long, even after being corrected by me, and that is how he became "Mouse". Bugged him to no end. I also recall another 8-school meet, where John wanted to attempt a new dive...double reverse from the 3-meter board. This caused me to have to do a 3-meter dive that I was scared to death to attempt and had never done before. Well, ole Mouse finally talked me into it, we both had great dives, and we walked away with a medal at the end of the meet!
I am sad for everyone left behind, because I know of the joy he exuded to everyone around him.
I will also smile whenever I think of Mouse and Mikey.
