John Sullivan Obituary

John Christopher Sullivan ATLANTA - John "Chris" Christopher Sullivan passed away on January 13, 2013. Chris was an Atlanta native born on June 2, 1975 to Jerry and Faye Sullivan. To his family and friends, Chris was loyal, generous and the source of much joy and laughter. Chris had an infectious smile and a warm embrace for each and every person that he met. When you met Chris you made a new friend. His enthusiasm for life and his love for those people, places and things that mattered most were unwavering. An avid sports fan, Chris was a die-hard loyalist to the Georgia Bulldogs. His was passionate about those things that he enjoyed traveling abroad, running, snow skiing, cooking, lobster fishing in the Florida Keys, and midnight rafting down the Chattahoochee. There was never a mountain too high or a slope to steep for Chris. He was committed to everything that he ventured and was joyful in the attempt. Chris's greatest passion was reserved for his wife Kristin and their two children, Llewellyn and Phillip. He was a devoted husband who loved nothing more than making his wife smile. And, Kristin smiled a lot when she was with Chris. As a father, Chris gave endlessly and was absolute in his love. For Llewellyn and Phillip, he was the shoulder to cry on, the playmate rolling around on the floor and the steady and constant hand letting them know that everything would be OK. Chris graduated from The Lovett School in 1993 and from the University of Georgia, Terry College Business in 1999 earning a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing. Chris went on to earn a certificate of golf course management from the Universidad Europa de Madrid, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Tech College of Management and, in 2012, a certificate of hotel revenue management from Cornell University. Professionally, Chris began his career at TrialGolf in Madrid, Spain serving as the English program director and translator. He then joined Reynolds Plantation, and the InterContinental Hotel Group. Chris was most recently with NAVIS as a system consultant. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Philip (Flip) Sullivan and is survived by his loving wife, Kristin Epting Sullivan, his children Llewellyn ( 2 ½ years old ) and Phillip ( 2 weeks old), his mother, Faye Sullivan, sister, Sally Sullivan Nicodemus, brother-in-law, Tommy Nicodemus, Father-in-law, Joseph M. Epting, Mother-in-law, Nancy Godwin Epting, brother-in-law Joe Epting and Sister-in-law Kelly Morgan Epting. A memorial service will be held on January 26, 2013 at 2:30 PM at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, Atlanta, Ga. Memorials may be made to the Sullivan Children Scholarship Fund at Wells Fargo Bank or by mail to PO Box 230 Irmo, SC 29063.

Words can't describe how sad this makes me. Critter was such a joy. he always made me smile. At least he is in heaven now with his sweet Dad.

Our memories of Critter are from when the kids were young and we'd go to summer conferences at Hilton Head, Amelia Island, Destin and The Driftwood in Vero. Even then, Chris was always smiling, making friends with everyone he met and living life to the fullest! Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Faye, Sally and the entire Sullivan family as well as all the lives Chris touched along the way!

Chris Sullivan was always upbeat and in a good mood. He and I became close friends at GT and through student government. His optimism was inspiring.

Perhaps the only person I know more upbeat and optimistic is his wife Kristin. They were great together. It is difficult to think what she is feeling right now, my prayers are with her, Llewelyn and baby Phillip. They will need much support and know the GT MBA community will be there for them.

I will miss Chris.

it's hard to believe someone so full of life is gone. I was impressed and inspired at how Chris always managed to find the best in people and in life in general. Chris treated people well; it was impossible not to love him. The world feels dimmer without him here. We will miss you sweet friend.

Chris taught us all how to enjoy life a little more everyday. He was as good a friend as you would ever hope to meet. His children should know that their father was a loving, generous, and honest man, someone who appreciated life every single day. He had a lot of living to do in a short amount of time. He was my friend and I will always love him.

I don't remember ever seeing Chris have a bad day. He was always up for anything. From road trips & golf to water skiing & cookouts. Chris seemed to only sit still to drink coffee & read the paper. Chris didn't ponder life, he lived it up. The memories formed by my adventures with Chris will always be treasured. He will forever be missed.

I can say with confidence that Chris lived an amazing 37 years, given all that he lived, pursued and accomplished. For the sake of myself, his friends and his family, I can also say I wish with all my heart that he was with us for 37 more years. Here's to the man that I consider my best friend, someone I will never forget. We love you, Critter...
