Johnny Chavis Obituary
Mr. Chavis, beloved husband of Gloria Chavis for 40 years, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011. Born in Springfield, SC, he was a son of Wyman W. and Margaret Chavis. He was a lifetime area resident, a member of Westside Holiness Church and retired from W&J Heating and Air. He was kind and loving, charitable and much loved by friends, family and his community. He enjoyed fishing, the mountains, and cooking outdoors, which everyone loved. He was always putting other's concerns and interests before his own. He was a devoted husband, father, son and brother who was dear to his wife, close to his father and mother and will be greatly missed. Mama and Daddy love you and are going to miss you, and wife will always love you hon. You will always be in our hearts.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are daughte, Sabrina Stelly (Geoffrey) of Gaston; son, Johnny Walter 'Wally' Chavis, Jr. (Selena) of Lexington; sisters, Margaret Thomas (Frank) of West Columbia, Loretta Livingston (John) of Gaston, and Teresa Echerer (Scott) of Lexington; brother, Wyman A. Chavis (Linda) of Charleston; and three grandchildren, Haylee Chavis, Glenn Chavis and Hanna Stelly.

To Johnny's family....you were so blessed to have had that ray of sunshine in your lives for even such a brief period of time! He always had a hug and a smile for me! And could almost dance me under the table back in the day! I love ya, Johnny, and I'll miss you! My heart goes out to you, Gloria. I know where you are right now and I want you to know that I'm here for you no matter what time of the day or night, you just pick that phone up and call me! Johnny Chavis was more than just an ordinary guest. He was a true friend, who, like his wife Gloria, always lit up the lobby with his smiles, antics, and overall persona. A great fellow, who we were truely blessed to know and call a great friend. Our hearts are saddened over the news of his passing, but our memories of Johnny are fun, lifelong & numerous. His memory will forever be a part of this motel's history.

hearing the news of your lost of Johnny was very heart breaking, Johnny was a very good and long time friend,Always there when ever I would call for help on air condition trouble. He was always Johnny on the spot.My heart felt sympathy goes out to each and everyone of his loving family members.May God give all of you the strength to get through this lost of yours.I am praying for each and everyone of you.
