Donna Williams

To Joni's family: My name is Donna Williams and I came across Joni's obituary because I was looking on the internet for my old friend. Joni and I were in the admin office as Navy Yeoman in VT-4 in Pensacola from 1983-1987. I have to tell you what you already know, which was that Joni was the sweetest, kindest and funniest person and what you probably don't know is that she and I were best friends back then. I loved her dearly and we had so many good and funny/crazy and memorable times together. We went through quite a few things together and were confidants. She was always someone I knew that I could trust and who had a level head for advise. I am broken hearted to find out that she has passed away. I want to express my sincerest condolences to your family. I have thought of Joni many times throughout the years and I will continue to think of her and our friendship with love and a smile.

John and Joyce, I quite accidently came across your daughter's obituary and am so sorry to hear of your loss. I can't imagine what horror it must be to lose a child. You are in our prayers.

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to locate Mr. VanValkenburg in Gulf Breeze to make sure this was the Joni Jones I knew years ago. I sold her a house on Birch St and her son was just a baby. From reading the messages, I see she did work at the post office which fits in with the Joni I knew.
She was a delight - always so pleasant and upbeat. Her family has had a great loss - I am so sorry

Please accept my condolences on the loss of Ms. Jones. Her obituary caught my eye because of her military service. I wanted to make sure her service was recognized, so I have sent her obituary with a donation to register her with the Women in Military Service to America (WIMSA) memorial foundation in case she was not already registered
Since you included her military service in the obituary, you were obviously very proud of her service, as am I. Please consider contacting WIMSA (womensmemorial.org) to give them more details, perhaps even copies of photos or other documents, from her service.

Although I don't think I knew Joni, I fell very close to her parents, as I am a first cousin to Joyce, and joyce was very supportive when my wife passed away.
I pray that Joni is better off, but I am sure her passing will be hard to bare, for those that loved her and were close to her. God bless!
