Joseph Lee Jenkins FLORENCE - Joseph Lee Jenkins, 90, of Florence, went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2016. He was born on November 14, 1925, in Mobile, Alabama, to Luther Galeon Jenkins and Josephine Antoinette Farnell Jenkins. Joe and his brothers proudly served their country during World War II, each in a different branch of service. Joe served in the Navy from 1942 -1944. He spent most of his adult life in Columbia, SC where he was founder and president of Joe Jenkins Realty. He was a past president of Columbia Board of Realtors and lifelong member of South Carolina Board of Realtors. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Florence, SC where his son is the senior pastor. Before moving to Florence, Joe was an elder of Lexington Presbyterian Church and active in Men's Bible studies. He also had a wonderful voice and joyfully sang in the church choir. Joe will be remembered for his infectious laugh, quick wit, and love of selling. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his children, Reverend Dr. Barry Lee (Susan) Jenkins, Teresa Jenkins (Guy) Tarrant and Reid Jenkins (Chuck) Anderson; blessed with six grandchildren, Dr. Barry Joseph (Maria) Jenkins, William Ryan (Meredith) Jenkins, Langdon Cheves (Allison) Tarrant, Joseph McCord (Stephanie) Tarrant, Gracie Anderson and Corbett Anderson and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of the Florence Presbyterian Community for the years of love, care and devotion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florence Presbyterian Community, 2350 W. Lucas Street, Florence, SC 29501 or the Building Fund of First Presbyterian Church of Florence, 700 Park Avenue, Florence, SC 29501. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the Chapel at the Presbyterian Community of Florence, SC. Barry, Teresa and Reid,
Sorry to read about the passing of your dad. I had lost track of him after he left Lexington, SC. I will always remember him as a snappy dresser and an excellent salesman. He was the first real estate broker I worked with when I started my career in 1970. I was hoping that I could make the graveside service to personally express my condolences and visit with you, but my wife is scheduled for an outpatient procedure at the same time. I will be thinking of you during this difficult time.

Joe Jenkins was the father of one of my very best childhood friends, Teresa. I fondly remember visiting their gorgeous home, swimming in their pool and Joe making everyone feel right at home. He and Desiree were the "it couple" ...beautiful people with beautiful hearts. He will be missed by his loving family and friends and remembered and respected by all.
