JOSEPH SCHIENBERG Obituary
Husband, father, uncle, friend, shipmate. Joe was born in New York and passed away peacefully in Green Valley on March 29, 2012, at age 89.
Joe proudly served for six years during WWII in the U.S. Navy and Merchant Marine Armed Guard in the Pacific and Atlantic region as Sparks. After the war, he was a member of the American Red Cross Emergency Communications, became an EMT and helped establish a Volunteer Ambulance Corp in Queens, N.Y. Joe served over 35 years with the Boy Scouts of America as Scoutmaster, Order of the Arrow, Commissioner and Merit Badge Counselor guiding the youth of the community to becoming productive citizens. Joe enjoyed traveling throughout the United States for Navy Reunions. In Green Valley, Joe was a member of the Radio Club and FRA 77.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Millie (the girl next door), son Steven and daughter Carin. Burial will be in New York. Remembrances may be sent to Beth Shalom Temple Center or Community Food Bank.
