Columbia, South Carolina - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joe Yaun 67 of Columbia SC on September 23, 2024.
Born in Charleston, SC to Jospeh Jr. and Nell Lane Yaun. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beth Eargle Yaun; his son, Joey Yaun; daughter, Jessica Y. (Robert) Blaylock; granddaughter, Madison E. Blaylock; sisters, Marsha Y Ward, Cynthia Y Kaufmann, Cathy Y Mixon (Kevin), Susan Y Peterson (Mack), and Beth Y. Miller; brother-in-law, Eddie Eargle (Samantha); uncle, Andrew Sloan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers-in-law, Harry Ward and Joe Kaufmann; and In-laws, Warren and Peggy Eargle.
Joe was retired from the Lee County Department of mental health. He was an avid gardener with a green thumb. He enjoyed fishing and the occasional hunting trip before his health slowed him down. His other favorite hobby was thrift shopping and finding a good deal. He was a collector of many things.
Joe was a loving husband, father, Papa, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed. Until we meet again.
A visitation is planned for October 26th 2024, 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Rd. Columbia, SC 29209.

What can you say when your only brother has left this earth? What can you say when you realize you will never be able to see him again, hug him again or tell him you love him again? Well I know I can say that God blessed me with the best brother a sister could ever have when he gave Joey to me! I can truly say that cycles can be broken because Joey was a great husband to Beth and an even greater father to Jessica and his son Joey! I am and will always be so proud to call him my brother. Rest in peace my sweet brother and rejoice with the angels in Heaven, I will truly miss you
