Louise McKinney Obituary

GREENWOOD - Louise Gailey McKinney, 90, of Greenwood, widow of her beloved husband William Izlar McKinney, Sr. died October 1, 2010.

Born in Iva, SC, January 2, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Ernest James and Nellie Campbell Gailey. She lived in Anderson, SC for most of her life where she was a devoted member of the choir and long time recording secretary at Young Memorial ARP Church. She worked in the Anderson County public school system and managed a private medical practice for many years.

In 1983, she and her husband retired to Greenwood, SC, where they became members of First Presbyterian Church. Her optimistic and gracious spirit will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sister Areva Gailey McCord of Greenwood; daughter, Julie McKinney Ross and husband Fred Dorsey Ross, Jr. of Columbia; son, William Izlar McKinney, Jr. and wife Erin Moorhead McKinney of Columbia; grandchildren, Benjamin Hunter Ross and wife Mary Ann Randall Ross of Columbia, William Hampton Ross of Columbia, Anna Louisa Ross of Starkville, Mississippi, Katherine Powell McKinney of Washington, D.C., Ellen Campbell McKinney of Austin, Texas and Ada Margaret McKinney of Columbia.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Oakbrook Memorial Park in Greenwood with Reverend Thomas Richie officiating.

The body is at Blyth Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm at the home of Bubba and Julie Ross, 619 Spring Lake Circle, Columbia, SC.
