A little late in finding this out, but we are saddened to hear of the passing of our dear and close friend, Mabel. She also had a smilel for everyone, was an outstanding cook, a very giving person, and all-around outstanding friend. She very effectively ran Irmo Elementry Schoool where my boys attended. During that time we felt as though we had an angel looking over them. Even though we now reside in North Carolina, we still felt very close to Mabel and tried to stay in touch with her. We will always remember her as an outstanding and long time friend...one of whom we will have long term and wonderful memories. She will be missed by so many to whom she always extended herself.

Just returned from Keesler AFB Biloxi, MS to see our older son Timothy (recent USC grad in Computer Science with honors) who surprised us last fall applying for AF Officer training and he is onward to Honolulu very soon. Awesome Thunderbirds air show and Thor dog accompanied on Gulf shores. Anyhow, was surprised to read about this wonderful, warm, and gracious lady passing while we were away. Seems like yesterday we ran the Borzoi dogs in her backyard, drinking ice water, and remembering her talks about importance of education, teaching, and being "inspirational" to students (precise!). I will inform my two sons (Matthew, too, who is continuing medical classes at Midands) and other family about Mabel. My sons liked her - she exudes genuine positivity. Need more of that today. When I learned what Edwin Sr. went through in WWII and I greatly (then in 2013 . . . and now) respect the service and sacrifice. My dad, passed exactly 5 years ago 05/09/14, was AF Intel. and only now do I realize what they went through. Mabel, I'm sure, is up there reunited.

Mrs. Nunnery was my 1st grade teacher and the Nunnery family were dear friends of our family. I always said, she must have had the patience of Job because Keith Black and I cried for at least the first 6 weeks in her class. She was wonderful! I had the pleasure of running into her about 3 years ago in Irmo. She will be missed by many but her memories will live long in all of us!

I met Mabel at Generations of Irmo and had spoken to her many times over the years when visiting Mr. & Mrs. Smurthwaite who lived across from her in their last years. She was such a kind, sweet, caring, soft-spoken woman who always had a great smile. I enjoyed seeing such a beautiful lady both inside and out and couldn't believe her age. I know you all will miss her. Prayers for your family.

Mrs. Nunnery was my first grade teacher. Her influence on my life was profound: I am a teacher today in large part because of Mrs. Nunnery. The Nunnery family was our Calhoun Street neighbors, and were well-loved friends of the Gladden family.
Sincere condolences and sympathies to all her family and friends.
Mrs. Nunnery truly planted trees under whose shade she didnt expect to sit. I hope that from her vantage point in Heaven she can she the vast forest of folks whose lives she touched in a positive way.
Mrs. Nunnery was well-loved by generations of Great Falls families. She was a gentle Southern lady, and she will be sorely missed.
