Honorary pallbearers will be the Edmond Dukes Sunday School Class, the 169th Fighter Wing Propulsion Unit, and Robert Whittle.
Mr. Rast was born February 6, 1948, in Orangeburg County, SC, the son of the late Malcolm Rudolph Rast Sr. and the late Helen Loretta Braswell Rast. He had retired from the USAF as a chief master sergeant of the McEntire Air National Guard 169th Fighter Wing. He served in Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was employed at Orangeburg Ready Mix Concrete - Bamberg Plant. He was a member of Four Holes Baptist Church where he was a deacon, taught Sunday school and served on several committees.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Milhouse Rast of Cameron; two sons, Malcolm David Rast of Charleston, John F. and Andrea Rast of Orangeburg; five grandchildren, Victoria Rast of Orangeburg, Malcolm David Rast Jr. of Charleston, Kirsten Rast, Michael Rast and Elizabeth Rast, all of Orangeburg; two sisters and brother-in-law, Carole and Reed Felder of Holly Hill, Charleen Rast of Elloree; mother-in-law, Betty Milhouse of Orangeburg; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Tommy and Jean Milhouse of Cordova, Pat and Roxie Milhouse of Orangeburg, Bobby and Linda Craig of Swansea; uncle, Charles Braswell of Elloree; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
Memorials may be made to Four Holes Baptist Church, 1622 Four Holes Road, Orangeburg, SC 29115.
