Mrs. Milam died Saturday, October 30, 2021. Born in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Coach James A. "Slick" Moore and Betty Harmon Moore. Martha was a graduate of Winthrop University '70 and taught at Chapin Elementary for 12 years. She was a longtime member of Lake Murray Presbyterian Church.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Robert A. "Robby" Milam, III; son, Dr. R. Alden Milam (Stacey) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Christiana Milam New (Jason) of Chapin, SC; four grandchildren, Breiana Hook, Jase New, Corrine Milam, and Tate Milam; and sister-in-law, Sharon Kay Milam of Columbia, SC.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Jane M. Rhymer and Elizabeth, "Libby" Moore.
Martha was known by all who knew her to have a heart for Jesus and young people. She touched the hearts of everyone that she met. She made connections with all in her teachings whether in Sunday School or as a school teacher. She always loved, encouraged and nurtured her students to be the best versions of themselves. Martha served as Moderator of the Lake Murray Presbyterian Church Women of the Church, she encouraged a loving disposition to the community around Lake Murray. Despite her battle with Multiple Sclerosis that claimed her physical strength, it only strengthened her spirit for the Lord.
Martha was a wife, mom, grandmother and friend who was devoted, inspirational, loved unconditionally and whole heartedly with compassion. She always had a way to encourage you to never give up while striving to be the best you can be. She was able to communicate and share her strong faith up to the day of her passing. Martha had an incredible strength to live life to the fullest even when limitations were thrown her way.
Memorials may be made to Lake Murray Presbyterian Church, Children's Educational Building, 2721 Dutch Fork Road, Chapin, SC 29036.
