Martha Cowsert Streit

May 19, 1967 - June 1, 2025

Lexington, South Carolina - Martha Ruth Cowsert Streit (Martie), 58, of Lexington, SC, passed away on June 1, 2025. She was born in Columbia, SC, on May 19, 1967, to the late Robert W. Cowsert, Jr., and Lilly Lawson Cowsert.

Martie was a 1985 graduate of Richland Northeast High School and went on to attend Columbia College and Clemson University. Martie embraced life to the fullest and was both a lover of music and a world traveler. She was kind, faithful, and giving. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, niece, cousin, partner, and friend to everyone she knew. She was the life of the party, always marching to her own beat.

Martie was the founder of Lilichuks Marketing and worked with companies across the world as an independent consultant. Work was one of her greatest passions, from serving ice cream at Rush's in her youth to directing the marketing efforts of entire companies and eventually opening her own firm - she was known to work throughout the night to meet deadlines and always had a network of great friends through her business.

Martie is survived by her husband and friend, Andrew; her children, Ian Duncan and Laura Lilly; her mother, Lilly L. Cowsert; and her sisters, Julia Shuler (Julie), Mary Cowsert (Kitty) and Mandi Cowsert. She loved her family deeply and was loved by them. Martie is also survived by Frankie S. Cowsert her bonus Mom, stepsisters Katrina, Doneila, Lisa, Amy, and Katie, four beloved nephews, one niece, three great nieces and one great nephew. She is also survived by lifelong friends who were a constant source of light in her life. Martie was predeceased by her father and sister Donna Roof.

A natural burial service will be held at Kings Mountain Preserve, 321 Indian Springs Rd, Blacksburg, SC 29702 at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 8th, with a memorial service planned for a later date.

I am so very sad to see that Martie has passed. She and I were very good friends in middle school. Memories include laughing uncontrollably and Friday nights at the skating rink. We lost touch after the family moved to Lexington but I think of her often.
Prayers to her family.

So sorry to hear of Martie's passing. Martie was a dear friend. I have so many good memories from the time we both lived in Columbia. Our egg fight and laughing so hard and having to clean it up. Lol. Lucy and Ethel. Thats what we called each other. Then we moved to Lexington. I remember going to Clemson games with you and your family. Times at your dads and moms house. Martie you were a light to all who knew you. It's not goodbye, but see you again my friend. Prayers to your family and friends. Love ya my friend always.

You may not have always seen it, but your presence in this world has left ripples far beyond what you know.
Someone still smiles at a memory you created together, still feels comforted by the kindness you showed, and still finds courage in the words you spoke. Someone hums a song that reminds them of you, sees beauty in the world because you pointed it out, and carries your wisdom in their heart.
Someone stands a little taller because you believed in them, walks a little lighter because you were there, and dreams bigger because you told them they could.
You mattered more than you realized......

Martie's remarkable legacy leaves a profound impact on me, stirring many fond memories. Her tireless efforts on RFPs, including driving through the night to deliver our RFP response on time, exemplify her unwavering dedication. Her exceptional intelligence, knowledge, dedication, humor, and pleasant demeanor made her a joy to work alongside and an inspiration to us all. I offer my sincerest condolences to her family.

So enjoyed Martie's friendship thru the years, starting at Snelling Staffing in the late 1990s when I was first hired. She taught me a lot about sales! Glad I was able to have some birthday cake with her last June at Derek's. She will be missed.

I am so saddened by Martie's death. My thoughts and prayers are with Andrew, Duncan, Laura, and the family.

I had the great pleasure of working with Martie for several years and what seems like 100s of projects. She was indeed the consummate professional always exuding confidence and assuring that even under heavy pressure all would be fine. And it always was. She had a knack for injecting humor at the right time to defuse deadline stresses.

Martie took pride in her work, but she took greater pride in her family. She would brighten up so vividly and with so much love when speaking about Duncan and Laura.

My thoughts are with you all during this sad time.

I treated Martie like my real sister, she was my best friend, she was the life of the party and she was always there for me, she came to my baptism and when I needed to talk she was there and she loved going to concerts I won´t forget our last concert last year, I love her so much she will never be forgotten, this isn´t a goodbye but it´s a see you later.

I will always remember how thrilled Mother and Moneau were when Martie was named Martha Ruth. I will also always remember Martie as a beautiful little girl playing at Surfside. I am sending my love and prayers to you all.
