Blythewood, South Carolina - With broken hearts, we sadly announce the passing of Michael "Mike" David Rescigno, 58, of Blythewood, SC, formerly of Salisbury on Monday, October 4, 2021 at his home.
Born March 18, 1963 in Rantoul, IL, he was the son of Melvia "Jean" Burleson Rescigno of Little River, SC, and the late Henry Rescigno.
Mike graduated from West Rowan High School, Class of 1981 and received his Bachelor and Master's Degrees in Business Administration from Montreat College. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mike was known as Lance Corporal "Mad Dog" Rescigno of Forward Observer Fire Support 2nd Anglico and Air Navel Gun Fire Platoon.
He was owner of the trucking company, Rescigno Logistics Group before retiring. Mike was former Vice President of Logistics for Belk Co. and Director of Logistics for Rack Room Shoes.
Mike was a member and Deacon at Killian Baptist Church, Columbia, SC and member and past President of the Sons of Italy, Lodge 2808.
Beloved husband, father and son, his memory will be cherished by his wife of 31 years, Sigrid Motley Rescigno; sons, Ian Michael Rescigno and Nicholas Andrew Rescigno of the home; mother, Jean Burleson Rescigno of Little River, SC; brother, Tim Rescigno of North Carolina; mother-in-law, Judy Motley of Salisbury; sister-in-law and husband Julie and Travis White of Salisbury; brother-in-law, Andy Motley of Wilmington; niece, Brooke Curlee; and nephews, Travis and Wyatt Curlee.
The family received friends from 9-10 AM Wednesday (Oct. 20) at Summersett Funeral Home followed by a Memorial Service at 10 AM with the Pastor Mike Shoaf, minister of Nazareth Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Salisbury VA National Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the United States Marine Corps and the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard. Everyone attending was asked to please wear a mask.
