Nadine Bigby Obituary

Nadine Bigby
April 8, 1925 - June 13, 2021
Columbia, South Carolina - Nadine Jeffers "Mops" Bigby, affectionately known as "Mops" by her Children and Grandchildren, at 96, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 13. Born April 8, 1925 in Blaney, S.C., she was the eldest daughter of the late Furman K. and Catherine B. Jeffers.
Mrs. Bigby is survived by her children, Adrian Jeffrey Bigby, Sherri B. Prime (Pete), Phil S. Bigby (Karen), and Colbert Bernard Bigby (Peggy); sister, Blondell J. Rodgers (Rabon); 11 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Reverend Colbert B. Bigby; son, Byron F. Bigby; as well as two siblings, William T. Jeffers (Rose); Miriam J. Gardner (Leonard).
She and her husband, The Rev. Colbert B. Bigby, Pastored the Central Assembly of God Church in Columbia for fifteen years. While Ministering here, they led the congregation in building a bigger worship center. With the assistance of her brother, Rev. W.T. "Dub" Jeffers, who served on the staff of T.V. Evangelist, Rev. Oral Roberts, Rev. C.B. Bigby and Nadine were influential in bringing some National and World known Evangelist and Singing Ministries to the Columbia area. In addition to Rev. Roberts, Evangelist Rev. William Branham and The Singing Indian Clout Family held "Camp Meeting" Revivals in Columbia.
Mops greatest joy was singing and worshiping the Lord in prayer with friends and family. She also enjoyed engaging in thoughtful conversations with friends and neighbors, learning all she could about people around her. She never missed a special family occasion and was always 'front-and-center' at every event. She was loved by everyone she met. Mops highly valued a good deal or a rare find; especially receiving a big discount. Mops was delighted by a steak dinner and always carried Hersey 'Kisses' Almond Milk Chocolates. Flowers and gardening were Nadine's hobbies. In the late 1970's, Nadine was honored with a distinguished award citing her as the first female in Columbia to top $1M in sales.

Still miss my precious Aunt Nadine, wonderful woman I loved so much. My Mom and Nadine met the Bigby Brothers from Stillwell, OK when they were holding tent meetings in Columbia. My Mom fell in love with Rufus and Nadine with Colbert. True love for both of them that lasted a lifetime. Prayers for my cousins.

I am so sorry to learn of Nadine's passing. The Jeffers family was so dear to my family when we were neighbors on Georgia Street.

I have many fond memories of Nadine. We were both active real estate agents and she often gifted me with a client after he retired. She was a lovely, joyous Christian woman who inspired many.

My deepest condolences on the loss of Aunt Nadine. She was an amazing lady and Aunt. Our families share great memories of fun, going to Myrtle Beach, and just spending time together. Aunt Nadine was always one of my favorite people. I know a big void has been placed in your heart. She definitely loved her family! God Bless you all.
