Paul Berg Obituary

COLUMBIA - Graveside services for Dr. Paul Conrad Berg, 87, will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

Dr. Berg, husband of the late Rosalie Helm Berg, died Saturday, January 10, 2009. Born in Hallstead, Pa., he was a son of the late Conrad Dietrick Berg and Etta Almira Luce Berg. An Air Force veteran of WWæII, he did undergraduate work at Syracuse University and received a doctorate degree from Cornell University. He was a retired professor from the USC College of Education.

Dr. Berg was a member of First Baptist Church and the Koinonia Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the American Psychological Association and International Reading Association.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and David Gossett of Easley, Doris and Bob Coleman of Altadena, Calif., and Ruth and Glenn Patterson of Blythewood; and grandchildren, Katie Corley and her husband, Nick, Claire Gossett, Holli and Bobby Coleman and Drew, Rachel, Laney and Mark Patterson. He was predeceased by brothers, Clifton Berg and Lloyd Berg and sisters, Marjorie Dunning, Doris Terwilliger and Faith Bulla.

The family extends appreciation to the staff and friends at Atria Forest Lake and to the Koinonia Sunday School Class for their love, care and friendship.
