Mr. Truesdale died Thursday, October 7, 2010. Born in Camden, Tuesday, August 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Luke Haile Truesdale and Blanche Nettles Truesdale. Mr. Truesdale grew up in Boykin from birth until Jan 15, 1944, when he moved back to Camden. He attended Charlotte Thompson School, Camden Primary and Camden High School. Mr. Truesdale was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War from August 14, 1950 to June 13, 1952 and had retired from DuPont after 31 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, James Leroy Belk Post 17 Camden, the Camden Hi-Steppers and a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Mr. Truesdale was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela """Pam""" T. Wiltshire and son-in-law, Joseph B. Wiltshire Jr.; granddaughters, Courtney Wiltshire, Mallory Turnage and her husband, Jeremy, and Jennie Joe Wiltshire of Columbia; sister, Betty T. Goins and her husband, Kenneth Sr., of Columbia; nephew, Kenny Goins, Jr. and family of Atlanta, GA. He was predeceased by his first wife, Blanche Jordan Truesdale of Camden, and his second wife, Carolyn Blackmon Truesdale of Manning.
