Ruby Ramsay Obituary

Ruby Ramsay COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Ruby Ramsay, 72, of Columbia will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2014, in Lawtonville Cemetery with Dr. Robert Winburn officiating. The family will greet friends and family after the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lawtonville Cemetery fund, 196 4th Street, Estill, SC 29918, Solomons Cemetery fund, c/o Algernon Solomons, 514 4th Street, Estill, SC 29918 or Spring Valley Baptist Church, 91 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223. Ms. Ramsay passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, in Palmetto Health Baptist. She was born in Hampton County, SC, and was the daughter of the late Rupert Solomons Ramsay and Thelma Herndon Ramsay. Ms. Ramsay was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church and was a retired federal employee. Ruby is survived by her nieces, Jane Price Duensing, (Craig Duensing, husband; children-Bryan Rupert Duensing and Mary Rebecca Duensing); Tammy Price Hegler, (sons, William Van Hegler,III and Johnathan Hunter Hegler); Eve Price Chassereau, (daughter, Hannah Ramsay Chassereau). Aunt Marcie called me this AM and informed me of Ruby's passing. I'm so sorry. She battled a long time, she has earned her rest. Ruby makes heaven a better place. I miss visiting Estill and the fond memories I hold in my heart. Ruby called me once a week during Karen's illness to check on her. May God's cloak of pease and love be with you all during this time. bless you all to check on her

Ruby will be missed by all her friends at CFI and especially by Hannah's class. She was such a blessing to be around and always had a smile on her face. The Lord lent her to us but wanted her back. May God bless her family at this time and give them peace.

To all of you ....Ruby loved and talked about you all of the time...you were her children and her heart. We were fortunate enough to grow up living three doors apart...what a wonderful childhood we experienced...our parents were awesome, because they let us "slide" many times.

Ruby will be missed. She was a dear friend from the time we met at North Trenholm and when we both moved to Spring Valley. Ruby had such a natural wit and charm. She loved her family dearly and was so proud of each of you. Hannah, you were like her own daughter, and I can tell you that she was so proud of all of your accomplishments. Ruby fought a good fight, but in the end, she was ready to let go and go to be with the Lord she so dearly loved.

Jane was my neighbor in the I building at Point Arcadia when we lived there. She was a wonderful person and so loved by her family, and also her neighbors and friends. I still miss those early days at Point Arcadia. We were all like family.

Jane, We have thought about you and your entire family this week. We all have such fun memories of Aunt Ruby. All of us called her that. She was a faithful person in every way: to God, to her family, and to her friends. This has been a long journey for her and all of you. This world will miss her, but I can hear her saying something like: "I am glad to be out of there!" She had such a wit,always very original.
Jane, I have to tell you that I went to the funeral of a dear lady on Monday. Our minister of music sang, The King is Coming. He has a lovely tenor voice, but I could hear you singing it in such a powerful way that I wished you were here.
You, Craig, and your sisters have been so faithful to Ruby. She loved all of you dearly. We still miss all of you.
