Mrs. Hammond, loving wife of the late Wade Hampton Hammond, Jr., passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Theodore and Ethel A. Rast Whisennant. She was a member of Gateway Christian Fellowship Church. She was a devoted teacher of God’s Word.
Surviving are her daughter, Melanie Hammond Waugh of Fort Mill; sons, Bucky Hammond and Hal Hammond, both of West Columbia; grandchildren, Natalie, Ryan, Winston, Hannah and Sarah Hammond, John David Waugh, III and Alexander Hampton Waugh; sister, Dorothy Williams of West Columbia; brothers, Troy Whisennant of West Columbia, Boyce Whisennant of Columbia, and Ray Whisennant of Johnson City, TN.
She was predeceased by one sister, Sherry Suggs, and two brothers, Olin Whisennant and Aubry Whisennant.
