Steve Bond Obituary

Steve Bond GEORGETOWN- Steve Bond, beloved husband of Margaret Ann Segars Bond, of DeBordieu Colony, died peacefully August 15th, 2013 at Tidelands Community Hospice in Georgetown, SC. Born in Elberton, GA he was a son of Beverly Allen Bond and the late Thomas Raymond Bond. Steve was a member of Belin United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet. He was President of Nu-Idea in Sumter, SC. A 1980 graduate of Clemson University, with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management, Steve played golf at Clemson under Coach Bobby Robinson. Since his time as a Tiger golfer, Steve has loyally supported Clemson University, Clemson Athletics and the Clemson golf program. He was co-chair of the Clemson Athletic Department Golf Committee and was instrumental in the development of the Clemson Golf Paws initiative. He loved the outdoors, golfing in Highlands, NC and along the SC coast, saltwater fishing in the low country and gardening. Most of all he loved his wife Margaret of 30 years and trusted God's plan. Surviving are his wife, Margaret of Georgetown; his mother, Beverly of Elberton, GA.; his grandmother, Rebecca Bond of Elberton, Ga.; one sister Lauren Royston and husband Ronnie of Royston, GA; one brother David Fredrick Bond of Elberton, Ga. and many cherished nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 18th, 4:00 PM at Belin United Methodist Church, 4183 Hwy 17 Business, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 with the Reverend Dr. B. Mike Alexander officiating. Burial willfollow in the Belin United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Quattlebaum, Hal Turner, Moore Patton, Don Reid, Forest Suggs, and Cary Coker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick DeVane and Rick Simmons. The family will receive friends following the service at the Belin Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Belin United Methodist Church, Endowment Fund, PO Box 528, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 or Clemson Golf Paws, PO Box 31, Clemson, SC 29633.
