May 20, 1953 - August 19, 2021
Andrews, South Carolina - Thomas "Tommey" Carroll Rivers, 68, beloved husband of Joan Rhoad Rivers, departed this life Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Rivers was born the son of Julius Bobby Rivers and Mary Bearnice Oakley Rivers on May 20, 1953 in Charleston. He was a former employee with the City of Cayce and the City of West Columbia and was currently employed as the Director of Public Works with the town of Andrews. He was a life long public servant, a member of the Masons under Scottish Rite; and a supporter of the Andrews High School Volleyball Team. His greatest enjoyment and love was his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, and a loyal friend.
Tommey and Joan were married on December 22, 1972 and celebrated 48 years together. Their home was blessed with: four children, Julius "Jay" Carroll Rivers (Shelly), Kimbrelly Angle (Josh), Christi R. Morey (Robert), and Amy Elizabeth R. Phillips (Dylan); nine grandchildren, Michelle Reece (Andrew), Autumn Rivers (Matthew), Ashleigh Angle, Frankie Morey (Kylie), Mary Beth Morey, Julia Rivers, Kathryn Angle, Dylan Morey, and Keira Angle; four great-grandchildren, Riley, River, Olivia, and Jackson "Jax"; and his grand-fur-baby, Grendel.
He was predeceased by: his parents, and a sister, Teressa Lynn Rivers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2PM, Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Andrews Christian Church, 845 Morrisville Road, Andrews.
The Rivers family will greet family and friends immediately at the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
