Tony Smith GILBERT - Tony Smith was born August 3, 1951, and passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and friends Saturday, March 15, 2014. He went to meet his Lord after a long battle with cancer. Tony enjoyed a lifetime of playing and singing Country Music. He began playing at an early age and found a passion for bass and vocals. He traveled and played throughout the US in his younger years and was well known locally to fellow musicians. Tony was a retired state employee with SCETV Printing Department and was working at Smith Printing, Inc. until his illness. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Tony was a son of the late Erskine and Margaret Smith of Leesville. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Laura, sons, Anthony (Shannon), Tony Ray (Karen), and James Smith, all of Gilbert, brothers, Erskine, Jr. (Betty), Tommy (Sarah) of Leesville, Glen (Becky) of Gilbert, sisters, Lynell (Ronnie) Kirkland of Swansea, Lois Taylor, and Nancy (Ken) Cannon of Leesville, grandchildren, A.J., Morgan, Nathan, Christine, Jarrett, McKenzie, Ian Smith, all of Gilbert. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 PM at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Services will be Tuesday at 4:30 PM at Boiling Springs United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Randy Miller, Tim Koon, Jr., Josh Koon, Dean Smith, Clarence "Beatle" Davis, Jerry Dooley, Donnie Miller, and Gerad Blume.
