Born April 3, 1945, in Silverstreet, he was a son of the late Joseph "Joe" and Jessie Mae Derrick Hendrix. Mr. Hendrix had retired from Lance and was an entrepreneur who was involved with numerous successful business ventures. He was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church where he was vice-president of the Lutheran Men and also a Church Council member.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Nelson Hendrix; a son, Brian Joseph (Tammy) Hendrix of Chapin; a daughter, Renee Hendrix (Bill) Hennessee of Ballentine; sisters, Mary Longshore and Dollie Creekmore, both of Newberry; a brother, Henry Boyd Hendrix of Newberry; and six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2011, at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 â€' 7:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
