Carol A. Maher

1959 - 2020

Carol A. (Valanzola) Maher, age 60, of Attleboro, passed away, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her adoring family, following a brief illness with cancer, on Saturday, October 10, 2020. She was the beloved wife of Michael Maher, to whom she was wed on April 20, 1985.

Born in Brookline, MA on October 28, 1959, she was a loving daughter of the late Urbano J. and Rita J. (Melchin) Valanzola.

Carol grew up in the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston and was a 1977 graduate of Mission Church High School. She had made her home in Attleboro for over twenty years.

A dedicated homemaker to her cherished family, Carol had worked for over five years as a special needs van driver for Franklin Public Schools. She, along with her family where parishioners of Saint John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro.

Carol's family was the essence of her life. She enjoyed visiting wineries and specialty coffee shops with her daughter Lisa, attending her son Michael's sporting events and spending time with her loving husband Michael.

In addition to her loving husband of thirty-five years, she is survived by her devoted children: Lisa A. Maher and Michael S. Maher, both of Attleboro. She was the dear sister of Richard Valanzola and his wife Elaine of Plymouth, Linda Gillard and her husband Steven of Attleboro and the late William Valanzola. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, October14th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 15th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint John the Evangelist Church, 1 Saint John's Place, Attleboro. Burial will follow at Saint John's Cemetery in Attleboro.
