David Oliveria Obituary

David Peter Oliveria, 78, beloved husband of June Marie Oliveria (Silva), passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. Born in Taunton, Massachusetts on July 12, 1944, he was the son of the late Albert and Viola (Drew) Danforth.

David lived a full life, one to be proud of. He was a lifelong resident of Norton where he attended Norton High School. David was always a hard worker; he started his own asphalt driveway business at 17 years old. He later founded Norton Asphalt where he maintained a successful business (which was easily recognized by his big, orange trucks) for 61 years before retiring in 2023. David also co-founded and owned The Coffee Pot in Norton with his best friend and wife June from 1990 until 1995. He was a proud member of the Freemasons with the King David Lodge in Taunton and was a past member of the Norton Lions Club.

In his spare time, David had many hobbies and interests, but he was best known for spending time at his sawmill. He milled his own lumber to create things including, but not limited to: furniture, toys and custom pieces for his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. During the Spring, his primary focus turned to building picnic tables. He was a man of few words, but many talents. He enjoyed his morning coffee at Dunkin and spending his afternoons at Honey Dew in Norton with old friends.

David will forever be missed by his wife June, his three children, Jennifer Oliveria-Duchaine of Norton, Tammi LaCivita (Oliveria) and husband Stephen of Norton, and Kimberly Aranjo (Oliveria) and her husband Barry of Norton. His family would also like to acknowledge Sandra (Trainor) Simmons of North Attleboro, and Diane (Trainor) Chapman of Seekonk who he loved as if they were his own. David was the proud and loving grandfather to 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His memory will live on with his brother Paul Danforth and his wife Kathryn of Norton, his brother-in-law Scott Shotzberger of Norton, his sister-in-law Deborah Mitcham and her husband Robert of North Attleboro, and his sister-in-law Mary Rose Kuplast and her husband James of Norton. He also leaves his legacy with several nieces, nephews, and godchildren. David is predeceased by his parents Albert and Viola (Drew) Danforth, and his siblings Robert Oliveria, Jeannette (Oliveria) McKenzie, Judith (Oliveria) Shotzberger, Michael Danforth, & William Danforth.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 4 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at the Duffy Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro, MA.

A Funeral Home Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Duffy Poule Funeral Home on Thursday, June 29, 2023. The burial will follow at the Timothy Plains Cemetery on Plain Street in Norton, MA.

David's family would like to humbly thank Dr. Raymond Petit, and the incredible nurses on the telemetry unit at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he had spent his final days surrounded by his loving family. In addition to the staff at Sturdy, the family would like to acknowledge the Hope Health Community VNA for their kind and loving care of David while he was able to be in the comforts of his own home. The family would like to invite everyone to kindly give up smoking, and advocate for the benefits of quitting.

One early memory of Dave. We had a big snow storm, my husband was at work. Our long driveway was buried in snow. Dave out of the blue, plowed our driveway! I was so grateful! I would be able to get to work! I baked an apple pie and delivered it to their house.
Dave, small acts of kindness, I will never forget the large impact he made on me.
