Gloria J. (Striplin) Powers, age 86, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield. She was the beloved wife of the late Gilbert A. Powers, to whom she was wed for forty-five years at the time of his death on August 30, 2018.

Born in Washington, D.C. on November 18, 1935, she was a loving daughter of the late Frank and Nora (Foley) Striplin.

Gloria grew up and was educated in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston. She was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family and had made her home in Mansfield for the past forty-five years.

A communicant of Saint Mary's Church in Mansfield, her greatest gift in life was spending time in the presence of her treasured family, especially her grandchildren. Gloria's hobbies included gardening, yardwork and trips to Foxwoods Casino. She had a wonderful personality, which made it very easy for her to talk and chat with others and easily make new friends.


She is survived by her devoted children Kevin J. Powers and his wife Gina of Mansfield, Angela L. Giusti and her husband Mark of Dartmouth, Robert W. Curley of Athol, and the late Scott Powers who is survived by his loving companion Nora J. Seyer of Mansfield and the late Pamela A. Curley. She was the treasured grandmother of Kara Powers, Sean Powers, Eliana Giusti and Amanda Curley. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 26th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary's Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visitation will be held prior to the services on Tuesday morning from 9:00-10:30 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
