Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island June 29, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Stephen P. Walsh and the late Florence R. (Fitzpatrick) Walsh.
Raised as part of a devoted Catholic family, Joanne was a 1955 graduate of St. Mary Academy - Bay View in East Providence, Rhode Island. She volunteered countless hours at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, was a member of the National Education Association, the Massachusetts Teachers' Association, and was a longtime member of Highland Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf and socializing with her and her husbands wide circle of friends.
Joanne spent many years with her husband, who was a member of the Attleboro Rotary Club, serving the local community. She was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International and worked with her husband to organize annual charity golf tournaments in support of the local Special Olympics.

I am so sorry to learn of Mrs. Haggerty's passing. She was one of the Class Advisors for AHS Class of 1987, and she guided us with patience, kindness, and humor.
She was always approachable and interested in us as students.
I would run into her from time to time over the years, and she always remembered me, always had a smile, always inquired about my family.
Mrs. Haggerty was a kind and caring influence. Everything one could hope for in an educator and advisor.
Sending my deepest condolences to the family.
