Joseph Patrick Harney Sr.

Joseph Patrick Harney Sr., 58, of North Attleboro, MA passed away at his residence on Saturday, April 3, 2021 following a three-month illness and surrounded by the love of his family. He was the beloved and cherished husband of Melissa Jane (Andrews) Harney of North Attleboro, MA.
Born in the Dorchester section of Boston, MA on March 30, 1963, he was the son of Joseph and Sally (McLaughlin) Harney of Walpole, MA. He resided in Walpole, MA prior to moving to the City of Attleboro where he lived for seven years. He resided for the past four years in North Attleboro.
Joseph was a 1981 graduate of the Xaverian Brothers High School and attended Suffolk University.
Joseph began his career at Weymouth Lumber and had over the years been employed at Hingham Lumber, Boston Cedar, and Wholesale Door. He was most recently employed at Cooperative Reserve Supply, Inc. in North Billerica, MA for 15 years.
He was a member of the North Eastern Retail Lumber Association, North Eastern Young Lumber Execs, Massachusetts Retail Lumber Dealers Association, and International Order of Hoo-Hoo, a fraternal order of the forest products industry.
A devout Catholic, Joseph was a communicant of the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish – St. Mark in Attleboro Falls, MA.
He treasured the time spent fishing on Falls Pond, family vacations to York Beach, ME, camping in New Hampshire, ski trips to a new mountain every year throughout New England, but most of all just being in the company of his family and friends. He is known to be the first to offer a helping hand in any way big and small.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on December 31, 2009, and his parents of Walpole, MA, he leaves to mourn his passing his five children: Joseph Patrick Harney, Jr. and his wife, Marit Harney, of South Deerfield, MA; Ryan Christopher Harney and his wife, Kelsey Harney, of Falmouth, ME; Matthew Michael Harney and his wife, Zaina Javaid, of Washington, DC; Alycen Michele Harney of Cambridge, MA; and his young son: Brogan Daniel Harney at home in North Attleboro. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of Liam, Nora, Graham and Brooks Harney; and leaves his siblings: Margaret McCarthy of Walpole, MA; Liam Harney of Walpole, MA and Michael Harney of New York City, NY. He also leaves many extended family members, and dear friends and colleagues who will treasure his memory.
With strict adherence to applicable Covid-19 health precautions, including social distancing and the use of facemasks, family and friends are cordially invited to honor Joseph by attending Visitation in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
A Private funeral will be held from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, on Friday, April 9, 2021 followed by a Private Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish – St. Mary, Park Street, North Attleboro.

Private burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro, MA.
