Paul Perry Obituary

It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Paul E. Perry, affectionately known as "Papa". He was born on September 17, 1954, and was proud to be a lifelong resident of Attleboro, MA. He passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by his loving family. His generous spirit and unwavering dedication to those he held dear will forever be remembered.

Paul leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years Cheryl Perry, his daughter Ashley Hernandez, and husband Richard, his son Ryan Perry and wife Melissa, mother-in-law Gloria Ryan, brothers Scott and Brian Perry, and his cherished grandchildren Jayden and Avery Hernandez, and Olivia and Ryan Perry, JR. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Perry, his mother, Wilhemina Bechtel, his father-in-law, Kenneth Ryan, SR, and brothers, Gary and Alan Perry. His family, whom he cherished above all, will forever feel his absence but will continue to honor his legacy through the love and strength he instilled in them.

Paul was a committed salesman in the food industry for over 40 years, but his real passion lay on the tennis courts. A lifelong tennis enthusiast, he was the Girls Tennis Coach at Bishop Feehan High School for nearly 20 years and a long-time member of the Attleboro YMCA. Paul's love for the sport earned him the title of MIAA Coach of the Year, an honor he held close to his heart. When not on the tennis courts, he could be found rooting for the Red Sox or the Patriots, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, or simply relishing quality time with his family. He was a graduate of Attleboro High School and Assumption College.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday July 30th, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm at Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St, Attleboro, MA. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 31st at 10am, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro, MA. Interment will follow at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, 661 Prospect St., Pawtucket, RI.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to the American Stroke Foundation at https://americanstroke.org/donate/.

Cheryl, My deepest sympathy to you and family. I lived in Attleboro for one year of high school. I met Paul the first week there and we became instant friends, literally spending every day together for a year until my family moved. So many wonderful things can be said of Paul, but above all was how he lifted the spirits of everyone around him. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would say they never laughed so hard as when they were with Paul and I am grateful to have known him. RIP my friend.

Paul was one of those rare individuals.. who welcomed me to Attleboro's Briggs Corner neighborhood. I was always glad to see him at the corner store.. where we would meet.

Paul was so real, so genuine.. and extended himself in a friendly manner to so many... including me. I was fortunate to consider him a great friend.

R.I.P., Paul.... I will always remember you... and miss you.

Dear Ryan, Ashley, and Mrs. Perry - I´m so sorry to hear the passing of Mr. Perry. He was such a wonderful man. I can remember the countless times he welcomed me into his home to come spend time with Ryan (and our friends), watching movies in the basement and playing ping pong. I always remember the great relationship him and Ryan had and the affectionate teasing and joking around when I was over. I´m truly sorry for your loss and the loss to the community. My prayers are with you all. May he rest in peace.

With deepest sympathy,
Nick Lupisella and family

My sincerest condolences to Paul´s family. The sad news was stunning as we go back awhile. Playing tennis with him and his father in law, Ken, who always had a cigar, while Paul always had a joke. Through many tournaments at Slater Park and even more at Attleboro, Paul´s presence was a constant. We both coached high school tennis, strung racquets, and we both were vertically challenged, however, he was a lefty and our serves were nothing alike. RIP Paul, you were always aces.
