Peter Bottomley Obituary

Peter Howell Bottomley, 71, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, died on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA after a long illness.

Born in Attleboro, MA on January 19, 1953, he was the son of Newell and Anita Bottomley. He grew up in Attleboro, while also enjoying homes on Martha's Vineyard and in New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee. It was inevitable that Peter would have a love of the ocean and of boats, having several sail boats and powerboats over his lifetime.

Peter also had a great love for his current home - Cliff Farm (David Durfee House) in Tiverton, RI - where he and Debra have chickens, goats, fruit trees and grape vines on their 1768 property backing up to Pocasset Ridge.

Peter worked with his father, who started a manufacturing company in Attleboro, Bottomley & Robbins Company. On his father's death, Peter continued as owner of Bottomley and Robbins, primarily producing military medal mounts for all areas of the armed services.

Peter is survived by his wife, Debra, their son, Michael and his wife, Alexandra, of Randolph, MA. He also leaves two brothers, Art and Bruce Bottomley, one sister, Carol Landroche, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 05, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the West Place Animal Sanctuary, 3198 Main Road, Tiverton, RI 02878, honoring his great love of wildlife and animals.

Christmas is always a difficult time after the loss of a very special person in our life. Thinking of Debra, Michael, Bruce and the rest of Peter´s family. I know how much I miss him and my heart breaks for all of you. I just know that he is at peace and no longer in pain, but I treasure my memories and I wish there was time to make many more. Gone way too young.....

Peter, still trying to absorb the fact that you are gone. No more middle of the night texting and talking. Our friendship survived many years and many miles. I know your love for life even with the extreme pain you endured. Rest easy now my dear friend until we meet again. I love you!!

To The Family of Mr. Bottomley. My heart goes out to you. I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Bottomley was my mom's boss for many many years at Bottomley and Robins, mine too for a short while. I remember going to the shop when his Dad was alive. He was so gracious even after my mom had to retire due to health issues he always had time to help her no matter what she needed.

My mom passed away in February of 2012 l called Mr. Bottomley to tell him. He came to my mom's service gave me a hug and told me his Mother had passed away the night before. That was just who he was. The world lost a great man. I will always have fond memories of Mr. Bottomley.

To Peter´s family I send much sympathy. He grew up down the street from me on Rocklawn Avenue in Attleboro. We played together as children in my parents´ old barn. May you find peace knowing he is at rest.
