Stephen Hopkins Obituary

Stephen Oliver Hopkins, 75, known affectionately by many as Steve, was born on August 15, 1948, in Pawtucket, RI, and passed away on October 5, 2023 at the Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River.

Residing in Westport, Stephen was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He grew up in Seekonk, moving to Attleboro in 1986 and settled in Westport in 2016. His adventurous spirit was evident in his passion for travel, with memorable trips to Scotland, Ireland, and Florida. Stephen enjoyed photography, kayaking, rowing, sailing, hiking and gardening. A dedicated family man, Stephen's love extended beyond his immediate family; his greatest joy came from his cherished grandchildren, Quinn, Hadley, and Jackson.

Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa (Bodge) Hopkins of Westport; his children, Tyler Hopkins and his wife Christine Hopkins of Attleboro, and Lindsay Dane and her husband James of Liberty Township, OH; his grandchildren, Quinn Hopkins and Hadley Hopkins both of Attleboro, Jackson Dane of Liberty Township, OH and Ellie Dane who is due to arrive in January of 2024; his brother, Robert Hopkins and his wife Susan of Boothbay, ME; and his brother-in-law, Edward Rowse. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and his Goldendoodle, "Finley Ann".

He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Hopkins, his mother, Margaret (Cruickshank) Hopkins, and his sister, Susan Rowse. His family will forever remember him as a dedicated and adventurous soul who brought joy and resilience into their lives.

Stephen had an impressive career, beginning as a sales manager at JT's Lumber in Providence, RI, before becoming a Purchasing Director at The Elliott Group in Cranston, RI. He retired in 2013, but his world never slowed down. He was the Sole Proprietor of Steve Hopkins Photography, a passion he pursued since 1985. He was also a member of the Army National Guard and the Westport Land Conservation Trust, and served his community as an Attleboro Youth Soccer Coach. Stephen's accomplishments also extended to the academic realm, earning a degree in Business Administration from Rhode Island College and a Master's Degree in Computer Education from Johnson and Wales University.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the ICU Critical Care staff at the Charlton Memorial Hospital.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro, followed by a funeral home service at 12:30 p.m. Burial will take place privately at a later date.

Lisa and family,
We are so sorry to hear of Stephen's passing. We will always remember the beautiful photos Stephen took of our kids on the Attleboro High School fields as well as the laughs we shared at the Haslehurst's home. All our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

Steve was my lab partner at DR and thank heaven for him for he made it fun; science was not my thing. So sorry for your loss, he was such a great classmate. Carol Berwick, D-R class of `66.
