Stephen Linfield Obituary

Stephen Joseph Linfield, 60, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025. He was the loving son of the late Barbara (Hennessey) Linfield, who passed away in April, 2023, and Stephen Linfield, who passed away in September, 2024.

Stevie graduated from North Attleboro High School Class of 1986. An accomplished Special Olympian, countless medals adorned his room from years of Special Olympics sporting events including swimming, track, basketball and skiing. Fancied as the dynamic duo, he also excelled at bocce with his favorite partner, his Dad. He was a dedicated employee at Stop & Shop for over 20 years. Stevie and his parents were always together, their adoring love for each other undeniable. They were regular attendees at the 4 o'clock mass on Saturday and were active members of St. Mary's Church in North Attleboro. Stevie loved singing and dancing to Elvis Presley, camping trips to Disney, weekends on the Cape, swimming at Scargo Lake, parties by their pool, rooting for the Patriots, and spending time with family. Stevie was a very kind and compassionate soul who will be missed dearly.

He is survived by the loving Burke, Cokely, Coyne, Farrell, Guinee, Hennessey and Linfield families and for the past year, also his group home family at 221 Perryville in Rehoboth.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday morning, January 30th from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM in the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Wrentham. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM in Transfiguration of the Lord Parish, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.

Rest In Peace my friend!

Mike Robinson

January 27, 2025

Dear Linfield Family, I did not know Steve very well, but from what I experienced with him I know he is kind and thoughtful, generous and sharing, wise and hard working and I would like to share how he made a difference in the life of our family.

As a customer of Stop&Shop I sometimes had the benefit of Steve's excellent work during checkout, and just as often the blessing of his smile.

One day during checkout, Steve overheard my 8 year-old-son sharing with me the struggles he was facing making friends at school.

With a kind smile Steve gave my son thoughtful, wise and generous advice, telling him, "Always be yourself and friends will find you."

Things eventually improved for my son at school, because he did not change who is is to find the friends he was meant to have. To this day Steve's words have stayed with me and with my son.

My son is now 21 and over the past 13 years Steve's advice has come up repeatedly and has been discussed with our two daughters as well.

Life is made up of so many small interactions that pass so quickly. Where there is kindness, where there is wisdom in a person's heart a simple moment and interaction transcends and becomes a powerful blessing. Your son gave that to my son and my family that day.

I am so sorry for your family's loss of such an incredible human being, and my family will keep Steve and your family in our prayers.

Sincerely,
Mike Robinson
