Thomas Capone Obituary

Thomas Eugene Capone, 74, of Wrentham, Massachusetts, beloved father, brother, and friend of many, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

Tom, as he was known to those who loved him, was born on August 19, 1950, in Dedham, Massachusetts, to Eugene and Eleanore (Lynch) Capone. He was raised in Dedham and graduated from Dedham High School. After a time in Mansfield, he settled in Wrentham, where he lived for many years with his wife and love of his life, Helen, until her passing in 2020.

Tom dedicated his career to the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, retiring from Walpole State Prison/Cedar Junction.

An avid collector of train memorabilia and a firm believer in Bigfoot, Tom possessed a great sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Helen, visiting family, and exploring new places. In retirement, he found joy in his train collection, working in his yard, dining out with family and friends, and the company of his friends at the local senior center, whom he affectionately called "the old folks."

Tom is survived by his daughters, Mitzie Fisher and her husband, Jacin, and granddaughter, Heather, of New Hampshire; Tara Jett of North Carolina and granddaughters, Joyce, Tara and her husband, Jared, Autumn and her husband, Christian, Isabella, Melia, Jazlyn, and grandson, Javion; sister, Kathleen Dowd and her son, Timothy, of Texas; brother, Steven Capone, his wife, Michelle, and their children, Tiffanie and Tyler, of New Hampshire; brother, Frank Capone and his daughter, Cassandra, of Massachusetts; and seven great-grandchildren: Helena, Zeya, Christian, Asher, Skyler, Brayden, and Nolan. He also leaves behind his good friend, Jan Kristenson, and many others.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gene and Ellie; his infant son; his brother-in-law, James Dowd; and his sister-in-law, Elaine Capone and his loving wife, Helen.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Tuesday February 11th, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. from 2-5PM.

Burial at Highland Cemetery, Norwood will take place at a later date.
