Ann Jacobsen Obituary

Ann Pogue Jacobsen, 56, died on Monday, December 11, 2023, in her home in Davis, California, following a one-year battle with cancer.
Ann was born in Exeter on January 25, 1967. She is the daughter of Richard Carl Jacobsen and Patricia Pogue Jacobsen of Exeter. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother Richard C. Jacobsen, Jr. She is the granddaughter of James W. C. Pogue and Sibyl Scott Pogue.
Dr. Jacobsen graduated from Exeter Union High School and subsequently earned bachelor's and master's degrees from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She received a doctorate degree from the University of California, Davis.
Following her education, Dr. Jacobsen enjoyed a long career in education as an English professor at U.C. Davis; California State University, Sacramento; and Sacramento City College.
Ann enjoyed literature and the theater. She was particularly fond of spending time during the summer at her family's cabin in Mineral King.
The funeral will be a private ceremony with only close family present.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sierra Club. Arrangements by Smith Family Chapel, Exeter, California.

Ann and I have been exchanging Christmas cards each year, since we discovered we were related as cousins. When I didn´t receive a card from her I went searching and learned of her death. This is sad news-what a kind, interesting friend. I will miss her.
