Adelmo Marchiori Obituary

Adelmo "Bud/Buddy" Marchiori
Bethalto - Dateline: Bethalto, Illinois
Adelmo "Bud/Buddy" Marchiori, 78, of Bethalto, passed away in the early morning Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at his home. Heaven certainly gained a loyal, hard-working, passionate, and feisty soul this day!
He was born on February 1, 1944, in Alton, IL, the son of the late Adelmo Marchiori and Ruby (Flatt) Marchiori. Bud married Barbara Norris on November 14, 1964, at the 12th Street Presbyterian Church in Alton. She preceded him in death on September 15, 2012, after a very brief battle with cancer. His devoted friend, Jackie Stilley (who was truly a gift from heaven and who helped reunite him with some of the old gang from his high school days) also preceded him in death on March 1, 2021.
Bud was a 1962 graduate of East Alton-Wood River High School. Bud worked as a Mold Maker for Owens Illinois Glass for 15 years. He then worked as a machinist at McDonald Douglas, eventually becoming a supervisor before retiring. He was a member of the Teamsters, Flint Glass Workers and Machinists – never forgetting where he came from.
Bud was a member of the Wood River Masonic Lodge # 1062 AF&AM, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of Scottish Rite, a Shriner of the Ainad Temple of East St. Louis, a member of the Rolling Nobles (he was known for riding on two wheels of his three-wheeler to the delight of the parade goers), and Wood River Kiwanis. He was a member of the former College Avenue Presbyterian Church in Alton where he served as an Elder and a member of the Corporate Affairs Council.
He had a favorite chair (it's still at the house) that his son's friends would try to sit in (you all know who you are) but he would give them a slight "growl" and they would realize their error. Of course, he softened when his grandchildren came along. He taught his family the values of hard work as he worked hard all his life to provide for his family. But he also knew how to cut loose and have fun on his yearly golf trips (if only those fairways, greens and lodgings could tell stories) and his many, many times with his Rolling Noble brothers at parades and other events. He was a "tinkerer" – there wasn't anything on this earth that he couldn't fix, build, or repair and he shared this gift from God to benefit others – always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Bud enjoyed dancing – it didn't matter what kind – he could do it all!
Bud was known to his grandchildren and great grandchildren as "Papa" and he adored each one of them. He enjoyed attending their events and milestones and especially his visits with them. He was so proud of them as family was always important to him.
He is survived by his son Adelmo III wife (Rebecca) Marchiori of Carlinville; daughter Melissa of Wood River; sister JoAnn (Earl) Thornton of Keyesport, IL; four grandchildren Adelmo IV wife (Sarah), Dominic, Giovanni, and Gabriella; and two great-grandchildren Sienna and Gianna; and one expected great-grandchild.
Along with his wife, devoted friend, and parents, Bud is preceded in death by a son in infancy; an uncle and aunt who raised him, Marlin and Mabel Flatt; two sisters, Clara Sedey, Lena Bond; and a brother Wayne Standefer.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be held at Elias,Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto on Wednesday September 28, 2022 from 4:30 pm until time of prayer service at 6:30 pm with Pastor Steve Schmidt officiating. A private family burial at Valhalla Memory Park will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Children St. Louis.
