CARLA SCHWEGEL
GODFREY — Carla Ann Schwegel, 61, of Godfrey, left for heaven Saturday, November 28, 2015 at her home, with her husband, best friend, at her side.
She was born September 3, 1954, to James and Barbara (Broadway) Witt. Carla and Edward were married on September 9, 1972. Carla was a devoted mother to her children and enjoyed a short career in early childhood education. She turned that devotion and energy to her grandchildren, with almost a reckless abandon. There was never a task to small or too large for her kids, grandkids and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Rose Witt.
In addition to her husband and best friend Edward, she is survived by her father Jim Witt of Alton; sister Linda (Otis) Nichols of Ormond Beach, Florida; brothers, Alan Witt of Fosterburg and Todd Witt of Alton; her children Erin (Seth) Phillips of Washington, Ill., and Eric Schwegel of Godfrey; her grandchildren, Ian, Hannah and Elyse Phillips, and Quinten Hess; other extended family and many friends.
Following her wishes a private ceremony was held for immediate family. Donations may be given to everyone by hugs and kisses to your loved ones.
