Carol Springman Obituary

Carol Springman
Rockwall - Carol Rae (Swettenham) Springman, age 89, of Rockwall, TX, passed away August 2, 2025. She was born on January 30, 1936, in Alton, IL, to Dorothy (Frenz) and Richard Swettenham. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. As a teenager, Carol worked for Wimpy's, a restaurant owned by her parents. In the 1950's, she was recruited to play softball and work as a secretary for Caterpillar Tractor Company. The softball team "Dieselettes" earned a spot to play in the World Series game. She met the love of her life, Charlie Springman and they were married October 27, 1958, in Alton, IL. Carol co-founded Chas E. Springman Company along with her husband, Charlie Springman. They built hundreds of single-family homes in the Godfrey and Alton area. In the 1960's, the company was named the third largest home builder in the state of Illinois. Carol immersed herself in her community by volunteering for The Salvation Army and was affiliated with Lakepointe Church. She was an avid golfer, tennis player, mahjong player, and bible enthusiast. Her role as a wife and mother was her top priority. She always put the Lord first in her life and modeled a servant's heart with humility, compassion, and selflessness by consistently putting the needs of others before her own needs. Our family was blessed to have such a compassionate person in our life who we called daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, and grandma. Carol is survived by her children: Chuck Springman and wife, Jennifer, Greg Springman, Debbie Roberts and husband, Ray; grandchildren: Valerie Phillips and husband, Blake, and Daniel Springman; sister: Judy Conroy; and brother: Richard Swettenham. She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Springman; parents, and sister: Janice Bowles.
A Memorial Service for Carol was 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Rest Haven Funeral Home - Rockwall, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Salvation Army or Lakepointe Church of Rockwall, TX.

Miss you, Aunt Carol. You were always such a bright and happy influence on us when we were kids. We lost touch later in life, but you, Uncle Charlie, and cousins Chuck, Greg, and Debbie have always remained close in our hearts and memories.
