CHRISTINE BRICE
ALTON — Christine L. McCrady Brice was born on Dec 14, 1938, the fifth and youngest child of the late George M. and Virgina (McPherson) McCrady. Christine left this life on July 13, 2018.
She was born in Alton, Illinois. The family made Alton their home for several years before moving to California. She attended school in San Francisco for several years and later moved to Madera, California, where she was raised, and graduated from high school.
She married Joe Lewis Brice in 1956, and moved to Pacoima, California. In 1963, she and her family would move to Alton, Illinois, where she lived until her death.
Christine and Joe married on Dec 23, 1956, and to this union 12 children were born. Cherishing her memory she leaves husband Joe L. Brice, 6 daughters: Lynette Brice, Fransetta Brice, Orvella Galloway and Allison Tolliver (Anthony) all of Alton, Kimberly Hollis (Will) of Louisville, Kentucky, and Karen Phillips (Bernard) of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; five sons: Joe E. Brice (Cynthia) of Cheltenham, Maryland, Dennis Brice (Cheryl) of San Diego, California, Michael Brice (Glanna-deceased) of Alton, Illinois, Dale Brice (Madeliene) of St. Louis, and Gary Brice (Karonica) of Clermont, Florida. Also surviving is one nephew, who became a son to her, Odie Cobb of Alton; one uncle, Gerald McCrady of Sikeston, Missouri; ten sisters-in-law, Ruby McCrady of Merced, California, Christine Lambert of Charlotte, North Carolina, Alice Evans, Willie Roseborough, Franscene Allen (Ronnie), Mamie Humphrey, and Louise Roseborough, all of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Deborah Roseborough of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Myra Welch (Kelvin) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Wanda Roseborough of Clarksville, Tennessee; two brothers-in-law, Danny Roseborough (Marilyn) of Korea and Joseph Roseborough (Teresa) of Atlanta, Georgia; 49 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers, Dennis McCrady, Robert Lambert and George W. McCrady, two sisters, Louise Carter and Lois Williams, one son, Duane Brice, two brothers-in-law, James Roseborough II and David Roseborough.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 21, 2018, from 9 until time of service at 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church 1426 Washington Ave. Pastor Frederick Gaddy will be eulogist.
Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Cathy M. Williams & Sons Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
