South Roxana -
Darrell Eugene Brigman, 73, of South Roxana, IL passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.
He was born February 15, 1949 in Fort Chateau Twp., Edwardsville, IL. Darrell was a son of the late Robert L. and Lois (Thompson) Brigman.
Darrell graduated Roxana High School in 1967 and began work out of local #338 on construction. He then went to Bosler Electric Co. in Highland. He worked at the Edwardsville Dairy, Beal Tool of East Alton and Olin Ammunition Co. in East Alton where he worked until an automobile accident prevented him from performing his duties.
Later in 1977, he opened and operated Brigie's Country Kitchen in Roxana which was a family based restaurant serving home cooked meals. Darrell enjoyed serving his community but due to ill health, he had to close his business after 10 years of service.
Darrell accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior in his teenage years. He devoted his time to listening to preachers and reading and studying God's word. He loved listening to gospel music, old country and western songs and watching old western movies.
He was a former member of the Forest Homes Southern Baptist Church, but presently is a member of the Meadowbrook 1st Southern Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving and devoted sister and caregiver, Martha (Brigman) Gray of Paris Tennessee, several nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his brother Robert D. Brigman and a nephew Keith Brigman
A life Celebration will begin at 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Monday May 16, 2022 at Meadowbrook Southern Baptist Church where services will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Keven Auten officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are designated to the church.
Gray Funeral Home of Wood River is in charge of arrangements.

Darrell was the best boss I ever had in my working career. I worked as a cook and also cleaned up the restaurant after hours. Darrell was a kind man may he rest in peace.
