David Allen Rushing

1956 - 2024

David Allen Rushing, 67, of East Alton, IL, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2024, surrounded by his family. Dave was born on September 27, 1956, in Alton, IL, to Joy Armstrong. He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle.

David was known for his kind heart, generosity, and infectious sense of humor. Affectionately known as "Uncle Dave" by many, he touched the lives of all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Dave is survived by his four children: Christal (Duimstra) and Jeremy of La Jolla, CA, Brian and Sheri Rushing of Rosewood Heights, IL, Miranda (Wagman) and Evan of Alton, IL, and Rachel (Dooling) and Bryan of Godfrey, IL. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Avery, Hayden, Alex, Cosette, Brody, Jansen, Wyatt, Levi, and Talia. He is also survived by his sister, Brenda (Kleeman) and Mick; his niece and nephew, Stephanie (Hinson) and Kraig; great-niece, Breanna Watters and her son, Sylar. Dave was a dedicated father who found the most joy in spending time with his family.

In addition to his family, Dave had a true passion for automobiles and motorcycles. His dedication and hard work turned these passions into a successful career. Dave was a skilled mechanic who found joy in teaching others how to repair vehicles. He would often offer advice and guidance to fellow enthusiasts, helping them with their projects and repairs.

While David's passing has left a void in the hearts of those he left behind, his legacy and spirit will live on in our hearts.

A celebration of his life will be held on July 14, 2024, at 1 PM at the Wood River VFW at 231 E Edwardsville Rd. All who knew him are invited to attend.
