DONALD SHEARBURN
GODFREY — Donald Earl Shearburn, 89, passed away at 6:45 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2015, at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey, with family at his side.
He was born in Alton, Ill., on Dec. 3, 1925, the son of the late Oral and Nellie (Roberts) Shearburn Geissert.
He married his high school sweetheart, Jean Loellke, on June 18, 1948, in Alton. She survives.
Donald served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1944 to 1946. He was the owner and president of House of Tools and Engineering Inc. Donald was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, former president of Lockhaven Country Club, former president of Consistory at E.U.C.C. for five years, and was involved with the Piasa Council Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; one daughter, Kaye (Donald) Sutton of Brighton; one son, Kim (Donna) Shearburn of Town and Country, Mo.; five grandchildren, Amy (Thomas) Williams, Nicholas Sutton, Taira (Jason) Price, Tyler Shearburn, and Trisha (René) Trevino; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Karson and Klasey Price; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy McConathy Redmon.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Evangelical U.C.C. with Reverend Jerry MeCaskey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ Godfrey.
Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey is in charge of arrangements.
