Holts Summit - Erma Lee Kalagian, age 96, of Holts Summit, MO, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025.
She was born on August 26, 1928, in Gilman City, MO, to the late Glen Moulin and Maude Ann (Godman) Moulin. She moved to St. Louis when she was fifteen years old, and then later married the love of her life, the late John Kalagian.
Erma was a devoted caregiver and hard worker throughout her life. She served as a nurse's aide and cook at Madison County Nursing Home for 17 years, retiring in 1990. Alongside her husband, she was co-owner of Rite Way Cleaners in Wood River, IL, for over 30 years, where they served their community with dedication and pride.
In her personal life, Erma found great joy in sewing, reading, and most of all, spending time with her family. She was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Pat Young of Holts Summit, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Dollie Kalagian; stepdaughter, Carol Williams; grandchildren, Brian Young (Sarah Dunn) of Fulton, Missouri; Jacob Kalagian (Leah Freeman) of Maplewood, Missouri; Elizabeth Kalagian (John Bertoletti) of Rosewood Heights, Illinois; and Lisa Kalagian Lewis (Caleb) of Alton, Illinois. Erma also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Johnny, Grayson, Elizabeth, Samuel, Connor, Kaelyn, Everly, Miles, and Rowan.
She was preceded in death by her son, Glen Jacob Kalagian; stepson, Johnnie Kalagian; three older sisters; and three older brothers.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Mayo Clinic.
A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
